Raymond Vineyard & Cellar Raymond Vineyard & Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2008
Very concentrated aromas of mixed berry patch, boysenberry, molasses and blueberry are followed by hints of cedar and anise. This is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon that boasts lots of volume and is rich and velvety with notes of dark fruit and black tea. A pleasing wine with rich, sweet oak, a pleasant minerality and bing cherry. This wine has great length to the finish.

This is a really nice relatively inexpensive bottle of wine. I was tempted to give it 5 stars but the price is a tad high. I have seen this wine retail for $35, but I've also been able to find it for under $13. I would pay $21 for this wine if I had to but it tastes so much better for $13 a bottle!

Notes on the Raymond Vineyard & Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 750ML 2008

Wine Maker Notes Raymond Vineyards traces its family roots to the origins of winemaking in America’s most fabled wine region. Embodying the spirit of the “Old Napa Valley”, the Raymond family worked side-by-side to build their winery from the ground-up. After arriving in the Napa Valley in 1933, marrying Martha Jane Beringer in 1936, and enjoying more than thirty-five years working in every facet of Beringer Winery, in 1970 Roy Raymond Sr., together with his sons Walter and Roy Jr., decided that it was their time to put their family name on the deep roots they’d laid in the Napa Valley.

Additional Notes The grapes for the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon were sourced from our estate vineyards in Rutherford and St. Helena, as well as select nearby growers. Both estate vineyards are located on gravelly alluvial fan soils with good drainage, necessary for growing excellent quality Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards are diligently monitored throughout the growing season to balance the crop size and quality. Shoot thinning and leaf removal early in the growing season followed by cluster thinning at veraison, help to achieve evenly ripened grapes with concentrated flavors.
