This is a fun wine to give away. Nearly everyone over the age of 50 remembers the movies in which folks ate at the local Italian restaurant, the ones with red checked table coverings and an empty straw bottle Chianti with a candle stuck in it and wax drippings from previous customers. This is a strong identifier. Couple this with a nice easy and mellow Chianti by Opici and one has a recipe for success. The wine itself is very drinkable right now but I think will improve with a few years of proper aging. I gave this a 4 star for all those reasons
A bright, light ruby color, a touch of violets in the nose, a fresh, crisp, dry taste and a clean finish.
Primarily Sangiovese, with some red Canaiolo and a bit of white Trebbiano and Malvasia.
Fast foods, chicken, burgers, pizza, pasta with tomato based sauces.
