Silver Palm Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 750ml

Silver Palm Cabernet Sauvignon

Our 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby in color, with aromas of Bing cherry and cassis. Flavors of menthol, spice and oak with round firm tannins lead to a soft, silky, lingering finish. Similar to the 2010 growing season, 2011 began relatively late and cool with greater than average Spring rainfall and lower yields. While the month of May was warm and sunny, cool weather returned in June and persisted through the remaining growing season and maximizing the desired long hang time. The resulting wines displayed juicy acidity, great complexity and slightly lower than average alcohol levels.

Silver Palm winemaker Matt Smith sources small lots of grapes from outstanding vineyards in California’s leading North Coast wine regions. Using cutting-edge and traditional artisan winemaking techniques, Matt meticulously fashions this superb fruit into delicious wines.

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA), which encompasses Napa and Sonoma Valleys, is profoundly influenced by cool coastal air and fog from the Pacific Ocean, resulting in temperate vineyard microclimates ideal for the cultivation of noble grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. By sourcing Cabernet Sauvignon exclusively from North Coast vineyards, winemaker Matt Smith ensures that only the finest grapes go into Silver Palm wines.

This is a good wine for a good price. I paid $60 for one in a steak house in Nashville and was happy to see it here for under $15. I'm ordering another case, even though one of the bottles in my first case was undrinkable. All the others were great.
