It's quite rare for us to get excited about reasonably priced Chardonnay. Frankly, most inexpensive Chardonnays are simply quite non-descript, particularly since Chardonnay isn't exactly an aromatic varietal and hence often relies on "expensive" techniques to gain interest. Well, we're glad to be proven wrong. Domaine de l'Olivier Chardonnay is unquestionably a VERY well done wine, and quite an exciting one at that. Though the wine sees virtually no oak, it is quite textured, with layers and layers of apple, pear and peach cream fruit braced by nice minerality with just a faint touch of nuttiness. Bravo! Domaine de l'Olivier Chardonnay could easily pass for a $20 White Burgundy. A wine to own by the case! - Review by Select Wines
A very nice wine. I enjoyed the lightness and the lack of the woody taste. In this wine you can taste the terrain and the grape with little interference of anything else. Light, crisp, not oaky and reasonably priced for everyday consumption.
I've bought this on several occasions and the other reviews IMO are spot on. The acidity and crispness are right up my alley. A great value at ten bucks, shipped free to your door.
I rate this as awesome based on the price to taste. This is an awesome 'every day' wine. For the price you can't go wrong. We buy it by the case and keep around for parties and friends. It's light and crisp. Nothing fancy but again look at the price. It's fun!!
Not a chard at all by American definitions. Much more of what we consider to be a Burgundy. I like this for an appetizer wine or aperitif wine. It’s very clean tasting and acidic.
A very light style chardonnay - clean and crisp. The fruit is early and very light followed by a mid palette of light mineral and light oak. Overall I'd say the wine is light, refreshing and has medium complexity, however, I would expect more fruit notes up front so it is probably a one time purchase for us. Maybe with time it will open up a bit more?
That is a helpful review. I will buy 1 bottle.I am missing my Buena Vista Carneros Chard..
The Chardonnay from Domaine de L'Olivier is a very clean example of the pure varietal characteristics. It is fruity, fresh, clean, with a lot of finesse, a good acidity and a touch of oak wood. Serve fresh in aperitif, with seafood or with salmon pie.
