Senorio Del Aguila Gran Reserva 2001 750ml

Senorio Del Aguila Gran Reserva

91 Points Wine Advocate: The 2001 Senorio del Aguila Gran Reserva is the same blend as the Crianza. It was aged in barrel for 24 months and 36 months in bottle prior to release. It offers a fragrant bouquet of Asian spices, incense, violets, black cherry, and blackberry. leading to a mouth-filling, sweetly-fruited, pleasure-bent offering that will drink well for another 6-8 years.

Smooth, polished, rich, and complex, with aromas of red and black berries, roasted chestnuts, spices and vanilla. Fully mature, with a breadth of secondary aromas/flavors, it has retained a vivid freshness, with an opulent texture on the palate leading to a lingering finish.

The Señorío del Águila range includes the top wines of the cooperative of Paniza, a modern and progressive winery in the D.O. of Cariñena. Named after the area’s majestic Golden Eagle (“águila” is Spanish for “eagle”), they offer a fresh, contemporary rendering of the classic, oak-aged wines of Northern Spain.

60% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. 15 days maceration in stainless steel tanks, with daily pump-overs. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was run into 70% French and 30% American oak barrels (1 to 3 years old) for 24 months, followed by an additional 36 months maturation in bottle before release.
