Lots of black cherry, raisin, spicy cedar and dried tobacco going on here. This is drinking very nice right now and would pair up great with veal or lamb dishes.
Ordered this for a dinner party last week and was quite surprised. The wine enters smooth and almost creamy, massive and full, but not in the least aggressive. Tannins are well integrated with the alcohol, and a seductive, tasty finish lingers quite long. I believe well worth the money.
Love Italian wines, but 2003 was a very hot & dry year. The flavor was thick and hard to drink.
This is a very nice Italian. I ordered 2 bottles of this based on other reviews and was not disappointed. My family enjoyed it so much the evening before Thanksgiving that I tried to reorder immediately. I hope it is available again soon.
My wife and friends enjoy this wine so much, that I have purchased a total of 24 bottles for gifts and future gatherings.
I'm Italian and have been drinking wines for 60yrs, both homemade and on the market. Forget about all the descriptive wine tastes and what to eat with it, just enjoy a terrific wine. It's great even with a cigar.
I have enjoyed the wines of Italy for 70 years. This Montepulciano is dry and full bodied, I enjoyed it with stuffed peppers and ribs. Not as complex as a 40$ wine might be; but, a value at the price.
I cellar wines to drink with appropriate aging and would not have tried this if your reputation did not warrant. Thank you for this buy!
12:30 PM and it is not available? How many did you have?
If you enjoy Italian wines this is a keeper. A true Monte, packed with tobacco, dusty chocolate, black cherry with a wild flower nose. The taste is full bodied and lingers softly with little tannins. It went very well with the veal and pepper sandwiches and chunks of fontinella cheese. I will be gathering more.
