Great wine with an even greater price.
Good wine, not sure how it got the 91 points, but good value, good taste.
this is one of the best wine values I have ever purchased. enough tannins for some body, but upon opening, very smooth. The longest finish on a sub-$10 bottle ever (over one minute)!! Very glad that I got two cases while it was still available.
Excellent wine, very smooth with alot of fruit. Goes great with cheese or sausages. Well worth the $9.97 price.
Wine Maker Notes
From our own vineyards and some growers linked to the winery, we start harvesting in the right ripening time. We sort the grapes in the vineyard and after in the cellar. In our barrel cellar we have more than 2000 barrels of French and American oak. The main variety of grapes is mencía, getting wines with a bright red color, with purple glints, aromatic and velvety wines. They are young and fruity, perfect to age in oak barrels.
With almost 4000 hectares of vineyards, some of them more than a hundred years old, El Bierzo is situated in the northwest of Spain, being protected by mountains it´s got a microclimate, with influences of Galicia and the plateau of Castilla y Léon, that keeps away premature frosts and with an average rainfall between 700 and 800 litres per year, an average temperature of 13º and an average of insolation of 2000 hours per year.
