It's not all fun and games when it comes to this spirit of choice. Not just any whisky can boast the Scotch label. As one of Scotland's best-known exports, Scotch production is strictly outlined by law in order for the drink to warrant the name. For a drink with such an infamous reputation, makers certainly take it seriously. The whisky must be distilled in Scotland, are generally distilled at least twice and mature in oak casks for a minimum of three years. The single malt part of the name indicates the whisky is made with only malted barley, come from a single distillery and are matured for a minimum of three years. The age listed on the label of any Scotch you purchase from Wine Chateau is guarantee that the youngest whisky used was of that maturation age.

Although Scotch does not age once it's in the bottle, there is good news. It can stay on the shelf practically indefinitely. Time to stock up! We've used this excuse on our end, and you're welcome to use it, too. Store the Scotch unopened and out of direct sunlight to keep the flavors authentic.
