South Africa has a rather Mediterranean climate with a varied geography. Concentrated along the coast and especially in the west, the mountains, valleys and plateaus produce a good variety. Their wine production is considered a blend of old and new world styles for a good balance.

Many South African white wines go to brandy production, but many are making their way into our selection. Try Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and a number of other varieties. Their wine production and exports are dominated by their complex, rich and savory reds. The region is known for Pinotage, their signature variety that is a cross of Pinot Noir and Cinsaut.
