John Begg Blue Cap is an old established brand. John Begg acquired a lease of part of the Lochnagar mountain near Balmoral Castle on Deeside in 1845, from where he produced Royal Lochnagar single malt whisky. He saw that the future of the whisky industry lay with the blends. He acquired bonded warehouses, bottling and duty paid cellars and offices in Aberdeen. The outcome was a big increase in Begg's business at home and abroad. In 1916 the company was absorbed into the Distillers Company.
