Amber hued with grassy, spicy notes in the perfume, and a salivating smell of melted butter and oak. Spice attacks the midpalate with a good dose of acidity and a dark peppery finish.
One of the best bourbons out there in this price range. The flavors are great all around but they aren't extremely strong in any area. If your looking for something extremely oakey or spicy this is not your bourbon. Its smooth all around. The notes that are posted on this page are for single barrel Knob Creek I have informed WineChateau of this and they haven't changed it yet. The bourbon is 100 proof or 50% alcohol, NOT 60%! I expected it to be 100 proof when I ordered it so no real disappointments there. Overall Im extremely happy with it at 57 for the half gallon. Stores around here want 35 a fifth plus tax! I will most likely be ordering a case soon.
Nose: Maple syrup and agave on the front. Makes me think of pancakes. Flint locked notes of blueberry and cherry. There is an oak and creaminess which permeates the whole thing. Tasting: This is an oak-centric bourbon. On the front palette there is a straight forward thick cut chocolate dryness. You have syrup and floral notes - violets and cream. there are some great woody/brown spices which end with a (long) dry and bitter oak finish.
