You may think this is crazy, but I had a bottle of A Hardy Pineau des Charentes sitting in my closet for over 10 years,. Being not much of a drinker, I would display all my bottles for the holidays.. and always seem to pass this one by. Well this Christmas I decided to crack it open. Except for the little bits of cork floating around inside the bottle, ( which I strained before serving). I poured a bit into a small glass and took a sip. Wonderful !! Oh, my, why did I not risk my taste buds before, and deprived myself of such a splendid concoction of Cognac and fruit. The sweet taste, the golden color, the warm feel that rose inside me. But the taste, that taste !! It started to bring me back in time. It's all so clear now, I've had this before. While attending a small party down in NYC hosted by a French restaurant around 1995, they were promoting the Pineau des Charentes.. How I loved it then. I am in love with it again. I am happy you are back in my life!!!.
Created from fresh Charentes grape must to which Cognac has been added before it could ferment.
