The Balvenie PortWood Aged 21 Years, a marriage of rare Balvenie is transferred to port casks, or pipes, which have held fine port wines. Here it is sampled regularly by The Balvenie Malt Master to ensure that just the right amount of character is imparted by the port casks, enhancing and developing the single malt whilst preserving its original characteristics.
Very smooth with mellow flavors....and all my friends love the Portwood finish. This is one of our favorites.

100% my favorite single malt compared to any others out there. The port wood gives it a subtle sweet finish that I just love. This is the Single Malt to buy!
Very smooth. A dash of spring water brings out some complex flavors. You can taste the peat, but it's not overly strong. I'll be getting this one again.
Technical Notes The oldest Balvenie released in 2008 was The Balvenie 1964, Aged 43 Years. Cask number 10378 yielded just 151 bottles, the single malt having reduced to a cask strength of just 41.3% abv since its distillation on 18th November 1964. The Balvenie 1964 has an amazing depth of flavour, characterised by sweet infusions of dried tobacco leaf and rich fruit cake, complex layers of dried fruits, ground coffee, walnut, and elegant oakiness. The Balvenie is a unique range of single malts crafted by Malt Master David Stewart. Each is unique, but all are rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by a distinctive honeyed character.
