This rum is very special. It does not feel like a regular rum. Just a hint of sweet caramel along with oak and smoke. It is very light, smooth and leaves no aftertaste. I drink it neat. I haven't yet met anyone who would not be impressed by this beverage.
This is one of the nicest aged rums at this price point that I have tasted. When I say price point, The Wine Chateau has an exceptional price offered which makes it even better! I recommend 2-3 fingers with 1 ice cube, in a nice rocks glass. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this wonderful rum!
And YES, I would give this rum 5 stars!
This is a nice rum that substitutes well for a VSOP
or XO cognac. Delivered price was very competitive.
My only regret is you were out of the XO, which had
a fantastic price point.
If you are looking for a great aged rum, this is it. Look no further and try it. I've had many successful parties at my house with this excellent Rum.
Our plantation is located on the volcanic plains of Retalhuleu, 1148ft above sea level in south-western Guatemala.Due to the fertile, acidic soil and year-round sunshine, no other place in the world is better suited to the cultivation of sugar cane. Most rums use molasses, a by-product of the sugar making process, as their base; Zacapa, however, is different. To impart a sweeter, smoother flavour, Zacapa uses only the concentrated first press of sugar cane, known as virgin sugar cane honey. This is the very point at which our rum’s remarkable taste and profile begin to develop. When it’s time to start fermentation, we introduce our own strain of yeast extracted from pineapples: Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This yeast produces the precise aromatic compounds Zacapa requires, and so we ferment slowly, to give the yeast the time it needs to work.Distillation is what defines the character of Zacapa. A single column still, lined with copper to add flavour and remove impurities, is used to distil Zacapa Rum. And to ensure the correct balance is achieved, the whole process is minutely controlled by our experts.
