I was asked to leave a review of this vermouth. Instead, the only thing I am able to review is the seller. I attempted to order Antica Formula about 6 weeks ago, in July 2013. The website gave no indication that it was out of stock (in fact, the "availability" section indicated it would ship that week), and I received an estimated delivery date by the first of August, which suggested that the vermouth was in stock. The vermouth, which had been intended as a birthday gift for a friend, did not arrive. I only learned that my order was delayed because Wine Chateau did not have any Antica Formula when I called and asked.
Almost three weeks later, I called again. I was again told that the vermouth was out of stock and was likely to continue to be out of stock for some time. So it was surprising when I received a shipment notification that same day. Excited, I tracked the package with great interest. Much to my dismay, it reached my local FedEx facility, and then was returned to Wine Chateau. Whatever was in the package had broken.
Wine Chateau received the return. I did not receive any communication. I called and asked about the availability of Antica Formula, and was told it was out of stock and had been out of stock for some time. This, of course, raises the question concerning what I was actually shipped. However, upon being informed that Wine Chateau really had no intention of contacting me concerning the order that I had been charged for and not received, I cancelled the order. I also wrote a complaint to Wine Chateau, stating that I would not use the business again but hoped they would change their policies regarding communication with customers.
The company's response was telling. They offered me $10 off my next order and asked me to review the Antica Formula I never received, but absolutely ignored my complaints concerning failure to communicate and/or misrepresentation. My suggestion is that you place your order anywhere but through this company. Otherwise, you are likely to be left dangling, charged for nothing, and actively misled.
I give Wine Chateau zero stars.
Fantastic sweet vermouth. Herbal with vanilla overtones. Maks the best Manhattan I've ever had.
This is a wonderful sweet vermouth and helps make the best Manhattan cocktail I have ever had or made - I learned about Carpano Antica from a bartender named Mike at Cucina 24 in Asheville, NC. Mike makes the best Manhattan I've had with this and with Russell's Reserve Rye, along with two specialty bitters. Wonderful! Carpano is hard to find in Virginia so WineChateau is a great source.
You mention that there is a 30% discount for a case, but the calculated price is not discounted 30% for Carpano Antica
I believe they are giving you 30% off of the msrp which is $42.19 a bottle. Not much of a discount over the single bottle price of $30.59
