Piccini Chianti 2012 750ml

Piccini Chianti

Fresh and simple, this iconic Chianti from Pic- cini boils the Tuscan red wine experience down to its easiest and most genuine state. This is a crisp, lean wine with a ruby color and bright berry aromas. Piccini Chianti DOCG is a well- structured, smooth wine, with soft tannins and distinct notes of red fruit.

2010 was an excellent year for Tuscany, thanks to a hot and sunny growing season. Chianti, with a slightly cooler climate, benefited from the impressive temperature excursions during the harvest. The good drainage of the vineyards played an essential role in producing Sangiovese of amazing quality.

In 1882 Angiolo Piccini founded Piccini in the province of Siena. He built a company that was ahead of its time, able to make the most of the work in the vineyards and the cellars, with the ability to conquer the demanding palates in all of Tuscany. His son, Mario, at the helm of the company in the 1920’s, introduced Piccini wines to all of Italy. He also began exporting abroad, immediately garnering a place at the forefront of the wine industry. In the 1960’s Pierangiolo Piccini strengthened the company’s leadership, contributing to the growth of the entire Italian division of winemaking.

Mario and Martina, the fourth entrepreneurial generation of the family, are involved in developing innovative techniques with the family winemaking tradition. Today, Piccini is among the world’s top 30 producers and exporters of wine. They alone are responsible for 15% of the entire production of Chianti Classico.

The Piccini Chianti DOCG is the flagship of the Piccini wines. The orange label marks a unique moment not only in the history of the Piccini family, but also in the history of Chianti in the world. Launched in 2000, the orange Piccini Chianti DOCG label became the first modern image of Chianti for the 21st Century with its distinct and compelling label. The true meaning behind the label is that the orange color signifies the family legacy of energy, youth and passion that truly characterizes the Piccini family.
