A lovely spiced nose with layers of dried fruit and warm baked goods. The palate has a nice interplay of savory and sweet flavors supported by toasted wood and coffee flavors. The texture is medium grained and leathery.
In 1901, James Buchanan received an order to deliver a special whisky to celebrate the coronation of King Edward VII. An exceptionally rich, smooth whisky was required for such regal entertainment. Buchanan's Red Seal is inspired by the original blend for this exceptional whisky created over 100 years ago.
James Buchanan's recipe has been retrieved from the archives of the Buchanan's House and with that inspiration Buchanan's Red Seal was created. Buchanan's Red Seal contains some of the rarest casks of Dalwhinnie whisky, as well as a small quantity of specially selected casks. These specially selected casks are double matured, first in refill casks, then in charred casks to increase sweetness and smoothness.
