Wine Maker Notes
Produced in the highlands of Jalisco, Citrónge has a base of premium, high-proof neutral grain spirits. The liqueur's captivating flavor is derived from organic oranges grown in Jamaica and small bittersweet oranges from the island of Haiti. Their peels are macerated in neutral grain spirits, which over time imbues the alcohol with the fruits' essential oils. After the extraction process has been completed, the spirits are redistilled to fully integrate the flavors. Pure cane sugar is added to give the liqueur a balanced dose of sweetness. No artificial flavors or chemical enhancers are in its production.
The original Patron Tequila was produced by Tequila Siete Leguas, and brand rights were sold to St. Maarten Spirits, owners John Paul DeJoria (Paul Mitchell Hair Products) and Martin Crowley in 1989. As the brand grew, Tequila Siete Leguas was no longer able to keep up with production, and Patron built a new distillery and moved all production in 2002.
