Cal Dennison has fond memories of growing up in Northern California, from hiking to exploring the vineyards that his family visited during trips to Napa and Sonoma. Today, as the winemaker for Redwood Creek, Cal's early interest in vineyards has turned into a life-long passion. At a young age, Cal knew he wanted to work outdoors and in the vineyards and wineries of California. Today, he spends much of his time outside exploring the diverse California landscape by mountain biking, kayaking, hiking and sailing.
But, his biggest thrill comes from the art of crafting wine. For Cal, the anticipation of each year's new grape harvest renews his passion for making wine. "I love the challenge of crafting a new wine in a style that people will really enjoy," Cal says. "With Redwood Creek, my goal is simple: Make wines that exhibit great fruit, a rich mouthfeel and a soft, smooth finish."Perhaps it's his love of the California outdoors or his memories of the vineyards. Perhaps it's the way he embraces each new harvest with unwavering optimism.
