Leopold Gourmel cognacs are matured in un-toasted extra fine-grain French oak casks. The wood comes from the oldest French oak trees, which prevents oxidation, adds very delicate wood notes and enables the vintage to reveal its full potential. The cognacs are then bottled without artificial ingredients or the use of chillfiltering. Matured for twenty years, Leopold Gourmel "Age des Epices" 20 Carats Cognac offers a pronounced nose of dried fruit, honey, leather and oak. The palate is rich, powerful and complex, opening slowly to reveal notes of raisin, baked pear and fig, accented by pepper, coriander and a touch of rancio. Intricate flavors of honey, clove, ginger and butterscotch emerge on the finish.
