If you like a tawny, rich and slightly (very slightly) sweet porto, this is it. My first taste was at the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT about 8 or so years ago. The only problem with this wine is it very hard to find! It is very full of woody, rich flavors and has a wonderful after-taste.
Porto Ferreira Dona Antonia Reserva Tawny has a beautiful red colour, with intense tawny shades that recall its slow maturation in wood. Its bouquet is intense and rich with hints of very ripe fruit (plum, apricot and marmalade) and floral notes. Complex, its spice and nutty notes derive from the evolution in oak wood, through oxidation In the mouth, it is a full-bodied and rich-flavoured wine, extremely well balanced, that combines elegance with a delicate yet persistent finish.
This wine is from Portugal, Port region. Dona Antonia is a unique port, named in homage to the stately founding lady of the House of Ferreira. Its slightly amber red colour hints at the intense, rich and complex aromas of ripe fruit. This most elegant port is a carefully selected blend of the finest grapes of the Douro.Ideal as an accompaniment to desserts and strong cheeses, Dona Antonia also makes an elegant aperitif to accompany canapes.
