Grande Amber is a sweet brandy / cognac blend, graded VSOP as the brandy was cask-stored for at least four years prior to bottling — VSOP stands for, literally, Very Superior Old Pale
Chestnut brown color. The aroma features nicely melded scents of hard cheese, winter holiday spice and raisins. Taste profile offers biscuity, honey-like flavors that are medium complex and straightforward.
Not a bad brandy. My personal favorite is Don Pedro Gran Reserva Especial but it is not available right now. Paul Masson VSOP is my second favorite. Wine Chateau has a good price and they offer great service.
Technical Notes Paul Masson Distillery is named for Paul Masson who was distilling wine in the Napa Valley in California in the early 1900s. Paul Masson brandy is today bottled and blended in Bardstown, Kentucky by the Paul Masson Distllery and distributed by Constellation Wines. They use a "special blend of grapes" and a longer aging period than customary to add complexity and taste.
