Paul Masson Brandy Grande Amber VSOP 1.75l

Paul Masson Brandy Grande Amber VSOP

Grande Amber is a sweet brandy / cognac blend, graded VSOP as the brandy was cask-stored for at least four years prior to bottling — VSOP stands for, literally, Very Superior Old Pale

Paul Masson Distillery is named for Paul Masson who was distilling wine in the Napa Valley in California in the early 1900s. Paul Masson brandy is today bottled and blended in Bardstown, Kentucky by the Paul Masson Distllery and distributed by Constellation Wines. They use a "special blend of grapes" and a longer aging period than customary to add complexity and taste.

The price for this brandy was terrific; it is probably the best bargain in brandies I've seen. It's not the finest brandy out there, despite its VSOP label, but I would rate it easily the best for the price. You have to pay a whole lot more to buy a better brandy--and let's face it: this is an enjoyable after dinner liqueur. I would certainly buy it again at the price I paid for it when it runs low.

Not a bad brandy. My personal favorite is Don Pedro Gran Reserva Especial but it is not available right now. Paul Masson VSOP is my second favorite. Wine Chateau has a good price and they offer great service.
