Aroma at the pour is concentrated and grapy; following aeration the bouquet turns intensely pumice-like yet clean and fresh. Palate entry is pleasingly spirity, grapy and acidic; at midpalate the ripeness of the pumice emerges as the taste turns sweeter and marshmallow or cotton candy-like. Finishes cleanly, sweet and grapy.
Amarone and its dessert wine counterpart, Recioto di Amarone, are both made from a classic blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes; all three varieties are native to the Veneto region. Alexander Platinum is made from the pomace of these two majestic red wines. After a double-distillation in copper steam alembic stills, a period of refinement ensues, with the resulting grappa left to rest for a couple of months in stainless steel vats, before being bottled and released.
Serve chilled, on the rocks either neat or with addition of water, soda or tonic.
