Altoona Hills Cabernet/Shiraz 750ml

Altoona Hills Cabernet/Shiraz

he finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz grapes from Australia's premier vineyards were selected for this wonderful, bold, and full bodied wine. With its fruit driven character, Altoona Hills Cabernet Shiraz is an elegant and flavorful wine that tastes like a mouthful of berries. It is perfectly suited to accompany most meats, pasta, and cheese dishes.

This red blend has a garnet hue to it, making it almost surprising what aromas and flavors emerge from this wine. The nose presents something like strawberries in syrup. The illusion of sugar wafts from the glass, yet it becomes obvious this wine is not sweet. Once in the mouth, the logical next step of strawberry shortcake comes to mind… perhaps some vanilla, perhaps some smooth tannins contribute to this imagery. Upon further inspection, notes of tea and a touch of plum surface to round out the experience. Tannins become more obvious on the somewhat quick finish. For a blend of two such reputedly powerful varieties, this wine was rather refreshing and fairly light. It would make a great pick for hearty red wine lovers who want something lighter for summer.
