Notes on the Caposaldo Pinot Grigio Veneto IGT 750ML 2011

Tasting Notes Features a dry, crisp, vibrant texture and delicate aromas of white fruit, flowers and almonds.

Wine Maker Notes Caposaldo blends a handcrafted, artisanal approach to winemaking with cutting-edge quality standards and techniques, so that it stands as a benchmark of iconic Italian wines. The fruit for each Caposaldo wine is hand harvested from low-yielding vineyards in prime growing areas in the classic wine regions of Tuscany, the Veneto and Lombardy. Modern scientific techniques are used in the cellar, including cold temperature stainless steel fermentations and judicious use of oak, resulting in a pure expression of each wine type.

Technical Notes In northern Italy’s Veneto region, the Pinot Grigio vines are planted to hillside vineyards situated 750 feet above sea level, where they benefit from well-drained, mineral rich, volcanic basaltic rock and calcareous clay soils. After handpicking, the grapes were gently guided through a pneumatic press, followed by inoculation with selected yeasts and three weeks of cold fermentation. Malolactic fermentation was avoided to promote fresh acidity, and the wine is not oak aged, allowing the grapes’ varietal character to remain prominent.

Food Pairing Pairs well with white meats, fish, seafood, pasta dishes and delicate cheeses.
