An intensely grainy bouquet. The palate entry is corny sweet and nearly honey-like; at midpalate the core flavor of sweet corn mash remains while tastes of buttered popcorn, brown sugar, and nougat expand. Finishes with a spurt of fire and lots of long, corny/grainy tastes. Should be part of every serious whiskey-lover’s collection.— P.P. (9/1/2006) — 90-95
Raisins, cinnamon and toasted oatmeal abound on the nose with a slight hint of citrus. Lush texture and deep, concentrated notes of brown sugar, baked plums and orange marmalade are combined with a smoky sweetness leading to an enduring and mellow finish.
This bourbon is on the sweeter side. It does still have the usual oak floral vanilla flavors but they are very subtle in comparison to other bourbons. For the price its not bad. I really wish they would stock the rye version I have seen much better reviews on it but it costs to much at the store to try.
Bulleit Bourbon is distilled and aged in small batches and stored in a single-story warehouse which reduces inconsistencies in the maturation process. Bulleit Bourbon is aged in American White Oak barrels that are flame charred, giving the bourbon some of its colour and flavour. It is aged not a drop less than 6 years, creating maturity and smoothness. The final, 90 proof product is formulated by mingling, not blending, two and sometimes three of the distillates to ensure consistency in the nose and taste.
