Rompope is a very yummy alternative to Advoocat and its taste can be equated to a rum spiked eggnog. Due to the alcohol content, there's no need to keep in the refrigerator. I bought two bottles through this site for my mother-in-law and an aunt, as Rompope is very much used in a lot of Latin American dessert baking. The bottles arrived promptly, very well packed and in great condition. The only drawback I found was the price of shipping, which makes me wish the liquor was more readily available on shelves throughout the US.
Rompope is an eggnog-like drink made with eggs, milk, and vanilla flavouring. The egg yolks impart a yellow hue to the emulsified beverage. It is a traditional drink known as such in Costa Rica, El Salvador and particularly in Mexico, where, it is believed to have been originally made in the convents of the city of Puebla.
