The nose offers enticing aromas of mace, savory pastry and hints of smoke. The palate is rich and smokey with dark toffee flavors, butter and grilled toast. It is remarkably smooth and round, leaving the mouth feeling velvety. Wonderful.

The Chivas brother’s fame spread rapidly and in 1843, they were awarded the first of many Royal Warrants to supply goods to Queen Victoria. At the time, Scotch whisky was popular, but not as we know it today. Whisky was often drunk without the benefit of long ageing it oak casks, making it a somewhat unrefined taste. In the 1850’s James Chivas saw an opportunity to create a style of whisky that would please his more discerning customers combining soft grain whisky and robust single malts to create a Scotch whisky that was both well balanced and smooth. When it launched 1909, Chivas Regal was the world’s first luxury whisky. The 25 year old luxury blend, created for the sophisticated palates of America’s East Coast high society, swifty won its first international following. There had never been a whisky like it. Such was its success that, within months, demand outstripped supply.
