Efe Raki is the first privately produced Raki in Turkey. Raki production had been in a government monopoly from 1931 until June 2003, when a new regulation came into force. With this change, a company named ELDA built a factory from bare ground, in 20,000 m2 of land, to produce Efe Raki. The fully automated factory was built in 12 months with the latest technology and the best equipment from Italy. The initial capacity was set at 5,000,000 liters but expandable to 15,000,000 liters annually. Efe Raki entered the Turkish domestic market in September of 2004.
