Warm weather in spring fostered an early flowering. Summer was typical with no extremes of temperature orstorm, but with more rain than in 2007, but equal to the 10-year average. Periodic rainfall delayed picking, but there were enough dry periods to harvest healthy grapes and it paid to wait for ideal ripeness. The winesof vintage 2008 are promising: rich in nuances and substance, complex, very aromatic – and all this, withmoderate levels of alcohol..
Tasting Notes The flavors and aromas of the Saarstein Riesling grapes are near perfect this vintage: very balanced, withfresh flavors and a high mineral structureFresh bouquet of strawberry and apricot. Mouth filling aromas of tropical fruits in harmony with the slateminerals and a ripe acidity. A powerful Riesling with a lot of character, racy and delicious.
Food Pairing Recommended with spicy and fruity dishes, Asian cuisine and with paté and cheese. Perfect as an apéritif
