It starts when the Master Distiller selects the corn, rye, and barley malt for distilling. We only use the best ingredients at the Wild Turkey Distillery. Our specially grown sweet corn gives our bourbon its rich taste. We use water straight from the Kentucky River to cook the grains during the mashing and malting stage. Once the malted barley gets tossed in, we add our sour mash to get the fermentation process going. It’s the yeast that turns the starch into sugar, giving Wild Turkey its distinct look and bold, full flavor. Yeast is added to the corn, rye, and malt to create our yeast mash.
