Every year, a comprehensive vintage report is published in the Molitor Wine Letter. If you read this carefully, you will note that this is not simply full of praise and hype, and introduces the „new“ vintage, but that it reflects the tremendous diversity and uniqueness of each vintage. A little of the fate, but also of the fascination the winemaker experiences anew each year, that there is no sameness in the progression of weather through the seasons, and that therefore no two wine vintages can be quite the same – we would like to bring all this across to our readers, who can then at a later stage taste the development of this vintage in their glass.
Vineyard, grape variety, viticultural practises and cellar technology, when to harvest which grapes – the winemaker can direct and determine all these factors, thus reacting to both the happy and difficult aspects of a year‘s weather conditions. However, he cannot determine the conditions laid down by the vintage, and too drastic corrections would destroy the wine‘s and vintage‘s individual character, the ultimate objective of every branded product.
