Dark, translucent garnet. On the nose is a seductive perfume of tar, anise, tobacco, blackberries, white pepper, kirsch and at times a wonderful pronounced earthiness. One the palate are concentrated flavors of cassis, tar, garrigue, spice, underlying minerality, and a dry black licorice finish that lasts for at least a minute. Though full bodied, the bright, even high acidity gives this wine exceptional freshness, making it perfect for pairing with robust, rustic, and savory foods.
Tasting Notes Deep garnet color. Notes of red cherries, plums and blueberries with a hint of violets and dried roses.
Technical Notes A blend of Grenache Noir and Syrah. In outstanding vintages, Quiot pulls from his best barrels to produce the Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge Cuvee Exceptionnelle. Primarily Grenache Noir, with a touch of Syrah for spiciness and depth, the wine aged for 12 months in concrete vats and 12 months barrels.
