Classic in varietal style, our 2011 Pinot Noir opens with intense aromas followed by an elegant, well-developed palate. Flavors of ripe cherry, raspberry and plum are met by toasty oak notes that lend depth and length to the fruit-forward character of this wine. Hints of toffee and leather join a long, sweet finish that lingers well after the wine has departed.
We crafted this wine to exhibit the fine qualities of California Pinot Noir, marrying the varietal’s vibrant fruit character with good palate weight, depth and complexity. Following harvest, we fermented the grapes in 100 percent stainless steel, which focused the fruit flavors and maintained the bright acidity. We then aged the wine for six months in 100 percent French oak to integrate the flavors, weaving in warm baking spices and adding structure and depth. The wine shows a fine balance of aromas and flavors with an inviting approachability.
