A complex, full-bodied red wine with pronounced notes of wild berries, blackberries, and spice. Smooth tannins and texture with an intense persistent finish.

Iskra - The Spark - is a jewel in the Masciarelli portfolio. The vineyard is located in Contraguerra, near Monte Amaro. Contraguerra - the remains of an ancient, batteredseaside mountain - has gathered its soils from an ancient sea bed, the Trento River basin, and the glacial washout from Monte Piselli. With its rich, well drained soils and its ocean moderated warm climate, Contraguerra is home to the biggest, boldest, ripest reds in Abruzzo.

Montepulciano fruit was fermented in stainless steel followed by 20-30 day maceration. The wine aged in French barrique for 12-18 months.
