Dark red in color, aromas of pepper, violets, tobacco, tea, figs and blackberries precede an elegant and silky mid-palate. The wine is well-balanced, displaying firm, round tannins and a long finish.
The fruit was sourced from three different plots, all of which face north and are located in flat areas of the Rosario Valley. A mix of 174 and 300 clones, the vines are planted to well-draining granite and clay loam soils. The grapes were harvested during the second week of May and cold macerated for 6 days before fermentation. Remontage was used during fermentation and the wine aged in French oak barrels for 12 months before being bottled.
Recommended with game meats such as veal or wild hog. Also pairs well with lamb and strongly flavored mature cheese.
