The 2008 Giorgio Primo is all class and elegance. It shows surprising richness for the vintage with a level of detail, clarity and polish that are first-rate. Minerals, crushed flowers, cassis and sweet grilled herbs add complexity on the long, focused finish. This is a fabulous effort from proprietor Giampaolo Motta. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023.
Tasting Notes Rich anddecadent aromas of berries and grilled meat. Full-bodied, soft and round with lots of fruitand a caressing, velvety texture.
Technical Notes (50% Merlot/45% Cabernet Sauvignon/5% Petit Verdot). The soils fall into 3 geologicalformations: a composite clay, schist and calcareous marl, yellow and gray shale (Galestro)and blocks encased in a clayey matrix. Aged 18 months in French barriques.
