Rum Chata is a relative newcomer (first shipped in 2009) to the crowded Rum market, but this creamy liqueur style drink is a perfect complement for the holidays. The drink uses five times distilled Caribbean rum along with real made from scratch Wisconsin dairy cream, with a touch of cinnamon, vanilla, sugar and other artificial flavors. They can say that because the distiller is actually located in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. They also a very interesting pepper flavored tequila that will be featured at a later date.
As cream liqueurs go — this world is wholly dominated by whiskey, coffee, and simple milk flavors — RumChata is nothing if not unique. Instead of whiskey, RumChata uses (obviously) rum as the base booze. Then, it’s not straight up cream but horchata that supplies the milky whiteness. Horchata, if you don’t frequent your local taqueria, is a very sweet, rice-based beverage flavored with cinnamon and other ingredients (recipes vary widely).
