This is a nice wine and easy to drink. We like it with fish. So many people will not drink an "oaky" Chardonnay, but this one everyone likes.

Notes on the Valley Of The Moon Chardonnay 750ML 2010

Tasting Notes Aromas of ripe peach, baked pear and sweet vanilla are accented by notes of cinnamon and clove. The ripe fruit and sweet oak flavors are accompanied by just enough bright acidity on the finish to balance the wine’s rich and creamy texture.

Wine Maker Notes The grapes for the 2010 Valley of the Moon Unoaked Chardonnay come from vineyards in the cool-climate appellation of the Russian River Valley. The growing conditions here allow for a long ripening period producing brilliant and complex fruit flavors. In order to preserve and showcase the natural beauty of this classic varietal, the fruit was whole-cluster pressed and fermented cool in small stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged in tank for just five months with the intent of capturing these fresh and vibrant aromas and flavors in the bottle. Due to the very high acidity from the cool 2010 growing season 20 percent of the blend underwent malolactic fermentation to enrich the mouthfeel.

Technical Notes (93% Chardonnay/7% Pinot Blanc). Fruit sourced from Russian River Valley and southern Sonoma Valley was whole-cluster pressed and fermented in French and Eastern European oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. The wine aged on its lees for seven months with the majority undergoing malolactic fermentation. The best individual lots were blended and then bottled.

Food Pairing The bright acidity and vibrant fruit make this Unoaked Chardonnay a delightful accompaniment to soft cheeses, raw oysters, spicy Asian dishes and cream-based pastas.
