97 points and a Cellar Selection, Wine Enthusiast: "A monumental Cabernet that succeeds on every level. It's deep, dark and ultrarich, showing massive blackberries, black currants, dark chocolate, violets, minerals and a touch of sweet, smoky oak. Beyond the flavors is the dramatic structure, with fabulously ripe, dense tannins and a bone-dry, long finish. Surely a tremendous wine capable of long-term aging. Try 2012-2018, at least." (04/10) According to the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "Its ripe red-cherry leanings and slightly frontal succulence are easy enough to mistake as those of Merlot, but Cabernet makes its claim clear as notes of black olive and briary spice emerge in the nose, and tannin bites into the wine's finish. If a touch ragged just now, this one has fruity depth to withstand some five years of cellaring if that is your wont." (08/08)
Lush aromas fill your glass with black currant, boysenberries, and bing cherries. On the palate, these fruit flavors lengthen into a spicy finish with the help of balanced tannin as a backbone. The medium weight body adds a soft texture that coats your mouth and lingers long after your last sip.
Wine Maker Notes
Our Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted in the northwestern quadrant of our estate vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, in gravelly soils that warm quickly in the spring. This warmer site, combined with limited yields, produces Cabernet Sauvignon fruit with bright, complex flavors, resulting in wine with deep ruby color and heady aromas of plums, blackberries, and forest-floor spice.

Start with a base of a hearty red meat, duck or veal cut. Compliment the entrée with sides or sauces featuring mushrooms, roasted tomatoes or garden spices to bring out the flavors in the wine. When pairing with cheese, stay with cow's milk or very mild blue cheeses.
