96 Points Wine Spectator (Highly Recommended): This powerful red offers a muscular core of roasted fig, blackberry and cassis fruit framed by thick, mesquite-tinged tannins, with loads of tobacco, pepper and tar coating the finish. Yet despite its power, this is racy and defined, with mouthwatering cut on the finish, where the mesquite note lingers. Ambitiously toasty, yet fully integrated. On par with the superb 2001 and 2005 vintages.

I've been a huge Chateauneuf fan for some time now and this wine is now in my top 5 list. Wow, what powerful red that takes your breath away. Well deserved 96 points from spectator.

Notes on the Domaine de Beaurenard Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Boisrenard 750ML 2009

Wine Maker Notes In the 14th century, during their stays in Avignon, the popes – and especially Pope John XXII – built a papal castle in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Impressed by the area's exceptional soils, they established vineyards on the slopes surrounding the château and were instrumental in promoting the local wine's reputation around the world. Domaine de Beaurenard in Châteauneuf-du-Pape has been a family-run estate for seven generations. A notarial act dated 16 December 1695 mentions “Bois Renard”, which over time has become “Beaurenard”.
