The Alexander Valley signature style is evident in this delicious cabernet: bold fruit aromas and flavors centered on red plum and boysenberry, and a rich and mouth-filling texture with soft tannins, all of which we've framed in the finest oak barrels for 16 months. Enjoy over the next 3 - 6 years.
Aromas of toasted oak and apple give way to a creamy, unctuous mouthfeel. Flavors of yellow apple and butter dominate, brightened by a racy citrus edge.
Wine Maker Notes
Rod Strong recognized the Alexander Valley as an ideal place to grow cabernet sauvignon as far back as 1971, when he planted our first cabernet vineyard on a hill known as Alexander's Crown. Today we proudly farm over 200 acres of estate cabernet on the benches and hillsides above the valley floor, where cabernet displays the finest expression of the Alexander Valley terroir.
Rodney Strong Vineyards was founded on the recognition of Sonoma County’s potential for excellence. It is purely place and character that matter the most. Grapes from each vineyard express their intrinsic personality based on the place where they grow. We gently craft them through to wine by careful use of barrel and stainless steel fermentation and proper oak aging to capture their essence – ultimately defining the character of Rodney Strong wines.
