Dry, and at first, the Mommessin has cherry and strawberry on the nose, liquorice and black pepper, then banana cream pie as a second note. The wine has quite a bit of backbone for a Beaujolais Nouveau.
Technical Notes Appearance in the glass very dark and reminiscent of the splendid 2009 vintage - reputed to be the best in 50 years. The depth of black fruit and cultivated violet flowers on the nose is impressive for a new wine. Nice candy-floss and blackberry flavors that just begin to intrigue the palate but then disappear in a typically short finish. If this is an indication of the quality of the better crus, consider seeking them out over the next 2 years!
