Notes on the Dynamite Vineyards Merlot 750ML 2009

Tasting Notes The resulting wine is deep ruby red in color, with aromas of black cherry, plum, coffee, hazelnut, and nutmeg. Thetannins are ripe, soft, and sweet, and the finish is very long and full. While delicious to drink in the full fruit of itsyouth, this wine will continue to increase in complexity and richness for six to ten years as it ages in the bottle.

Wine Maker Notes The majority of the grapes came from relatively high-altitude vineyards located in the Mendocino, Potter Valley and Red Hills American Viticultural Areas. These mountainous terrains have the benefit of warm continental days balanced by a sudden cooling as the sun sets. This allows the fruit to ripen fully while retaining its natural acidity and bright fruit flavors. The remainder of the grapes came from Paso Robles, where the long, mild growing season produces juicy cherry–berry flavors in the Merlot.
