Wonderful and intense aromas of peat smoke and cedar rise to your nose and are balanced by lemon zest, toffee, vanilla and coconut meat. It is incredibly bold on the palate with smoke and cedar leading the charge followed by brown sugar, honey and citrus. The peat smoke endures well into the lengthy finish as well as hints of honey.
Heavily smoky and meaty on the nose yet balanced by subtle citrus aromas and a hint of apricot and candied ginger. Light bodied but with powerful flavors of peat smoke, sea brine and toasted walnut. Vanilla makes an appearance before finishing robust and smoky.
Which batch is it? I am looking for 003 or earlier...
All of the Laphroaig Whiskey's are an acquired taste... a taste I happen to truly enjoy! That being said, If you are into the standard 10 year, this is a stronger, more developed version with the same smoke and peat notes and finish that come with the 10 year, but more boldly flavored. I love it!
Pronounced "Luh-froy'" or "luh-froyg'" they call themselves the "most richly flavored of all scotch whiskies." Laphroaig recommends drinking it neat with a splash of water. Laphroaig cask strength scotch is bottled at natural strength with just a touch of filtration to remove charcoal particles.
