Barolo is indeed one of the world’s greatest wines, rich in history and appreciated everywhere.The production area is limited to 11 communes led by Barolo,where Michele Chiarlo owns historical vineyards. ”Tortoniano” Barolo takes its name from theTortonian geological area (La Morra and Barolo), since a part of the grapes used to produce it come from Cerequio crus and a part from surrounding vineyards. Tortonian soil is characterised by sedimentary clayey marl known as SaintAgatha, interspersed with bluish-grey sandstone,which gives rise to a Barolo of exceptional elegance and endowed with marked and complex fragrances as well as a rich taste,with delicate, highly pleasing tannins.

GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Nebbiolo MAXIMUM YIELD: 80 quintals per hectare, corresponding to 52 hl/ha (approximately 230 cases/acre) MINIMUM ALCOHOL: 13% TOTAL ACIDITY: 5.5% - 7% AGING REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 1 year in oak and2 years in bottle

CONSUMPTION PERIOD: a good vintage will reach its peak after 3-4 years, it ages well for up to 15 -18 years; in exceptional vintages it can age up to 20 years SERVING TEMPERATURE: 17°-18°C ACCOMPANIMENTS: red meat and game
