Additional Notes Chianti Classico Riserva, harvested from the Castello vineyards, is vinified from the highest quality grapes on the estate. The Sangiovese grapes were selected from vineyards at the highest elevations on the property where thin soils and maximum sun exposure stress the vines and produce intense, concentrated fruits. The wine is aged for two years in oak barrels to enhance its structure and richness. Thirty percent of the wine was aged in small, 55-gallon barriques (French oak barrels), while 70 percent was aged in 500-gallon botti (Slovenian oak barrels). After bottling, the wine rests for another six months before it is released.
