A deep ruby to purple color, a complex bouquet of cherries and violets, a rich, dry taste with nuances of plums and black pepper, and a long, pleasantly tannic finish.
Wine Maker Notes
The poet, Francesco Redi, called the red wine of Montepulciano, “noble… king of all wines.” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has many of the characteristics of Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti Classico Riserva. This is a rich wine with 15 days of skin contact during fermentation, followed by two years in large Slavonian oak casks. Further refinement of 6-8 months in the bottle takes place before the wine is released. All aging occurs in the zone of production. Villa Puccini Vino Nobile di Montepulciano will age gracefully for 5-7 years or more, depending on the quality of the vintage and proper storage. We feel that this historic wine will be embraced by Americans in the next few years.Wine-making standards in Montepulciano have steadily improved in the past two decades. Villa Puccini Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a wine of class and value.
