Sourced from France's Languedoc region and crafted in an Old-World style, this ruby-red wine has a complex bouquet of spiced plum, strawberry and toasted oak.
Tasting Notes Youthful, medium ruby color. Quite aromatic, this vintage showcases black cherry, anise, and dried herb aromas reflecting its cool-climate origins and outstanding fruit maturity. On the palate, it is already quite rich in fruit, with medium body, a round velvety texture meshed with balanced acidity and lots of spicy-cherry, cocoa and minerally flavors.
Technical Notes In 1900, Georges de Latour arrived to find Napa Valley planted to orchards of walnuts and prunes. His vision for making wines that would rival those of Europe helped establish what has become one of the most important wine regions the world over.
When Georges and Fernande de Latour first traveled to the heart of Napa Valley in 1900, Fernande took one look at the lovely Rutherford expanse and exclaimed "beau lieu," or "beautiful place."
From the ingenuity behind surviving Prohibition, to the crafting Napa Valley's first "cult" Cab, to the construction of our new Georges de Latour Private Reserve Winery-discover the exciting history of Beaulieu Vineyard year by year with a pictorial timeline.
Food Pairing Enjoy this wine with grilled salmon or chicken, pasta dishes flavored with mushrooms or medium strong cheeses like Morbier from France or Mezzo-secco from California.
