Maison Nicolas Merlot Reserve 2011 750ml

Maison Nicolas Merlot Reserve

Deep and dark red color with purple highlights. Intense and complex nose of small red fruit and black fruit fragrances. Supple and smooth, well balanced, with long lasting notes of berries on the finish. Nicely concentrated, with pleasant mellow tannins.

Nicolas was established in 1822 when it opened its first three stores in Paris. Until that time, customers who wanted to buy wine brought their jugs to the winemaker, who filled them from a barrel. Nicolas was the first to offer wine in a glass bottle sealed with a cork. This was a revolutionary concept and the beginning of the wine bottling industry in France. Today there are over 400 stores throughout Europe.

Here in the United States, Luneau USA Inc. is the sole importer for Castel Freres, the owner of the Nicolas wine shops and the largest wine negociant in France, as well as the fourth largest wine company globally. Castel is also the largest owner of wine in the Medoc region, and the owner of 14 Chateaux in Bordeaux.

Luneau USA's marketing is based on the simple fact that American consumers want quality wines from a trusted source. With the assistance of the Nicolas oenologist, Luneau has picked a selection of wines that truly represent the major French appellations and perfectly reflect the unique characteristics of each wine varietal.
